Dana Hockenbury, M.A., CCC-SLP, COM,® completed her undergraduate degree at Northeastern University in 1985 and graduated from Lehman College with a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders in 2005.
She practiced as a Speech and Language Pathologist for 25+ years with the New York City Board of Education. Dana is licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of New York and Massachusetts.
Ms. Hockenbury became a Certified Orofacial Myologist® through the International Association of Orofacial Myology in 2007. She began her private practice known as “Myology Works” in 2009. She was the first Speech & Language Pathologist to become certified as an Orofacial Myologist in New York City.
Dana is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), where she received three ACE Awards for her participation in many continuing education conferences. She is an active member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology where she serves as the Educational Chairperson since 2012. Dana was Program Chair for the 2016 IAOM Convention. She served on the Mentoring Committee for those seeking their certification in Orofacial Myology from 2010-2012.
Dana created the Tri-State Orofacial Myology Study Club to support and connect Orofacial Myologists in the Tri-State area. She has multiple publications which can be found on her website: www.myologyworks.com
Ms. Gomes graduated from Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Danni has 24 years experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, with a license to practice in both the state of New York and New Jersey. Ms. Gomes is an adjunct faculty member at New York University College of Dentistry’s Dental Hygiene Department. She is an Instructor in the Continuing Education Department at New York City College of Technology’s Dental Assisting Program. Ms. Gomes is also an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor.
Danni has completed a 28hour introductory certification track course with the International Association of Orofacial Myology and post-graduate training with the Academy of Myofunctional Therapy. She is a founding member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences. Danni is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, the International Association of Healthcare Professionals, and the American Dental Education Association. She is also a member of the American Dental Hygienist’s Association in which she has served on the Continuing Education Peer Review Panel. She is a member of the Tri-State Orofacial Myology Study Club and she was on the Board of Director’s for Unspoken Smiles Foundation in 2015.
Danni has received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and a Service Award for being employed at New York University College of Dentistry for 15 years.
